The Table of Hospitality - August 23, 2026
The Power of Your Testimony
Icebreaker
Tell us about a time when God came through for you—through healing, finances, relationships, an answered prayer, or simply His goodness and faithfulness.
Key Scriptures
Revelation 12:11 (NKJV)
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…”
Psalm 71:15–17 “My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness And Your salvation all the day, For I do not know their limits. I will go in the strength of the Lord God; I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only. O God, You have taught me from my youth; And to this day I declare Your wondrous works.”
Main Idea
Your testimony is the story of what God has done in your life. When you share how Jesus has saved, healed, provided, restored, or carried you through difficulty, it can strengthen someone else’s faith.
The purpose of testimony is always to glorify God and point people to Jesus.
1. Your Testimony Glorifies God
Read: Matthew 9:6–8 “But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” And he arose and departed to his house. Now when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such power to men.”
When Jesus healed the paralytic, the people glorified God.
Discussion:
What has God done in your life that could encourage someone else?
2. Miracles Point to Jesus
Read: Mark 2:10–12 “But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the paralytic, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” Immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went out in the presence of them all, so that all were amazed and glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this!””
Mark 16:20 “And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.”
Jesus used miracles to reveal His authority and confirm the message of the Gospel.
Miracles alone are not the Gospel. The Gospel is the good news of the finished work of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, through His death and resurrection. Miracles, however, can confirm that message and should ultimately point people to Jesus—the One who is the Good News.
Discussion:
Why should miracles always point people to Jesus?
3. God Works Through Ordinary Believers
Read: Acts 8:5–8 “Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word. Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. And there was great joy in that city.”
Acts 8:12 “But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.”
Acts 3:12 “So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?”
Acts 3:16 “And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.”
Philip ministered in the power of God, and Peter refused to take credit for miracles.
Key Truth:
We pray and obey. God produces the results.
Discussion:
How does knowing the power belongs to God remove pressure from us?
4. Don’t Be Afraid to Step Out
You are not responsible for producing a miracle.
Your responsibility is to:
* Love people.
* Pray in faith.
* Obey the Holy Spirit.
* Leave the results with God.
Never exaggerate what God has done. Give Him the glory and continue loving people whether you immediately see the answer or not.
Discussion:
What keeps believers from stepping out and praying for others?
Testimony Challenge
Think about your story in three parts:
Before: What was happening?
What God Did: How did Jesus meet, help, heal, provide, restore, or change you?
After: What is different now?
Challenge Question:
How can your story point someone toward Jesus?
This Week
Share one testimony with someone and look for an opportunity to ask:
“Can I pray for you?”
You do the praying. God does the work.
Closing Prayer
Father, thank You for everything You have done in our lives. Give us courage to share our testimony and boldness to pray for others. Help us always give You the glory and point people toward Jesus. In Jesus’ name, amen.
