Root of Intimidation

Fear and intimidation are rooted in the love of self. But when you lay down your life out of love for Jesus, fear and timidity will lose their hold on you and boldness will begin to emerge.

REFLECT

1. Whose approval and admiration mean the most to you?

2. How often do you seek it?

3. How is your behavior affected by their approval or disapproval?

READ

1. If you are filled with fear or intimidation, who or what are you focusing on?

2.  If you are filled with God’s love, who or what are you focusing on?

3. In what ways has God’s love empowered you to lose your life for Jesus’s sake?

4. Consider the story of Elijah. What did he accomplish?

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. (Galatians 2:20 NKJV)

For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. (2 Corinthians 5:14–15 NKJV)

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18 NKJV)

RESPOND

I declare, I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. In the life which I now live, I live by faith and my actions are fueled by God’s love.
